Box Leagues
We have club box leagues for members, singles and doubles play.
A box league is a popular way for tennis clubs to give members regular, competitive but flexible match play. Here’s how it works:
- Players are grouped into “boxes” (mini-leagues) of usually 4–6 people of similar standard.
- Over a set period (e.g. 4–6 weeks), everyone in the box plays each other once.
- Matches are self-arranged – players contact each other to fix times that suit.
- Players play for one hour and there is a scoring system, points being awarded for matches played and for wins.
- Promotion & relegation: at the end of the period, the top player(s) move up to a higher box, and the bottom move down. This keeps things competitive and well balanced.
- Repeat cycles: new boxes are drawn up and the league continues in “rounds” throughout the season.
The advantage is getting to know people at the club, regular match play, it’s flexible around players’ schedules, and standards stay fair because boxes are based on results.
