Hospital Cup
Hospital cup entry details attached – Peter Tomms is our club rep (email inframe90@aol.com)
The Hospital Cup tournament is a charity event to raise funds for the League of Friends of Saffron Walden Community Hospital. Nine local clubs take part in the event, which comprises singles (ladies’ and men’s) and doubles (ladies’, men’s and mixed) competitions. The event is run on a knockout basis throughout the summer, with matches being best of three sets. Each round has a four-five week playing window.
This year it is Thaxted’s turn to run the tournament and to host the Finals’ Day, which will be on Saturday 17 September 2016. There is no playing standard for the event, although the general expectation is for players to have competitive match experience. If you are not sure about playing standard, please speak to your Club representative. If you would like to enter any of the events, please sign up on the relevant sheet.
Entrants must be current members of their Club at the time of entry and Finals’ Day; and you must be available on Finals’ Day. Also, if you play in the top division of a county league or for your county, you are not eligible; sorry.
If you have any queries about the event, please contact your Club rep.

We’ve had some good news recently regarding funding grants as we’ve received approval for £2000 from the Stansted Airport Communities Fund; whilst we passed the first Phase of the Communities Initiative Fund (CIF) for £7,500 we have now submitted the final form for their approval, whilst I’ve also requested a grant from Sports England (£10,000)
Presentation made to Parish Council on the 7th Sept and was conditionally approved

Men's Team
It’s been nearly 20 years since the club won the premier division. We are winning by a very good margin; final results should be known by the end of October.
Mixed Team
This is the first year for the mixed team who have performed brilliantly and should get promoted for next summer’s league; congratulations to all involved.
A big thank you to the team captains Peter Toms (men’s) and Clare Jackson (mixed) for leading the teams.
