Norfolk Teams Dig In During County Cup

As we enter the final day of action at this years LTA County Cup, Norfolk teams look set to remain in Div 4.

The Men playing in Havant, have recovered well after suffering a 4-5 defeat to West of Scotland on Monday. Wins in two third set tie-breaks were not enough although the team showed it's strength in depth with 6 players contributing to winning rubbers.

They emphatically recovered with a 6-3 win over Cheshire on Day 2, taking a 5-1 lead in from the singles rubbers.

On Wednesday they registered another 6-3 victory against Devon, with Kris Jenkins/Ethan Terry winning 3 from 3 matches.

A narrow 4-5 defet to Herefordshire & Worcestershire on Thursday all but ended any chance of promotion for this year. Again Jenkins/Terry performing well with 2 wins.

Today, the men will be aiming to finish the week on a high with a win against Leicestershire and a commendable 3-2 record.

The Ladies, playing in Cheltenham, got off to a great start by winning 6-3 against N.Wales. Ami Partridge/Rosie Pooley leading the way with 3 victories.

On Day 2 they lost 4-5 to E.Scotland in what was a bizzare match. E.Scotland led 4-0 before a Norfolk fightback levelled the rubber at 4-4!

Wednesday was just the same, another tight 4-5 loss, this time against Essex. Congratulations to Norfolk pair Maria Andrews/Sam Hickman who won 3 from 3 matches.

A much changed lineup for Thursday resulted in a disappointing 1-8 defeat to Lincolnshire. With the Ladies unfortunate to lose 3 of 4 deciding match-tiebreaks, Brooks/Harrison on the wrong end of a marathon 11-13 breaker!

The Ladies play Warwickshire today knowing a win will secure another year in Div 4.
