County Tennis & Training
Norfolk Tennis is proud to have county teams that compete in every age group from eight-and-under through to over 70s.
All county coaches, captains and vice-captains play an extremely important role in bringing together the best players in Norfolk by organising and managing teams, and training sessions.
On 14 occasions since 1930 [PDF], Norfolk pairs have gone a perfect 15-15 in LTA Summer County Cup rubbers. Gordon Fitt (1936, 1939, and 1954) and Amanda Brown (1981, 1986 and 1991) both achieved the feat on three separate occasions during their county careers. Most recently, Maddie Brooks and Amy Partridge won an amazing 29 straight doubles rubbers in the 2022 and 2023 editions.
Players are awarded county colours for making significant contributions to junior and senior teams both on and off the court. Click the link to see previous winners, dating back to 1925: County Colours
Norfolk Tennis uses two venues for junior county training. Easton College Tennis Centre, an LTA supported 10 and under player development centre, has eight indoor hard courts and four outdoor red clay courts, and David Lloyd Norwich, to the north of the city centre, are used on a regular basis to supplement a player's weekly programme.

Junior county training provides a regular competitive environment to allow talented players to prepare for their own individual schedules, whilst fostering a team ethos ready for county cup events. The aim is to help every player achieve their goals and reach their potential, helping support them into and through LTA regional and national pathway training.
Chris Stocker, the Norfolk Performance Officer, is responsible for county training, working with junior captains and coaches to ensure that all players, their parents/carers are supported at each stage of their tennis journey. Chris is available at norfolkperformance@norfolktennis.org and 07869 037556.
Neil Henery oversees Seniors Tennis, with the support of age group captains - from Over 35s to Over 75s - that compete in summer and winter county events.
