North Wootton win Norfolk Primary Schools Mini Tennis Festival 2024

On Monday 1st July, in association with Norfolk School Games, Norfolk Tennis hosted it's annual Mini Tennis Festival at the UEA Sportspark.

Year 3/4 pupils from primary schools across the county had already qualified through local School Sports Partnership events earlier in the year.

In total, 104 pupils from 26 schools played out over 120 matches to determine an overall winner. The format enabled players to complete singles matches head to head against players from different schools.

During the morning schools competed in box leagues before being regrouped for the knockout.

Congratulations to every player who competed, all of whom contributed to their teams success. Event organiser, Stu Silvester said "this event is always great to be part of, for many players it is their fist taste of a real competition and to do it alongside friends makes it extra special. It was amazing how many children actually knew about the professional players playing at Wimbledon and we hope they can dream of achieving this themselves one day!"

Guest of honour, Georgia Routledge, fresh from winning the first ever Para Standing World Championships in Turin, Italy was on hand to present the trophy and medals.

The top three placed schools were:

  1. North Wootton
  2. Fairhaven
  3. Cringleford & Firside
