The annual Club Championships made a welcome return this season after last year’s break.  Despite there being no Finals’ day, all competitions were completed with varying levels of spectator support.  There was a good level of entries in most of the categories and the results were as follows:

Men’s Singles:         Matthew Midgley bt Ralph Windwood in a three-hour long battle.  4-6, 6-4, 6-2

Ladies’ Singles:       Margaret Fenwick bt Helen Coulthard  6-0, 6-1 

Men’s Doubles:       Matthew Midgley & Andy Holt bt Ralph Windwood & Tim Piper  6-4, 7-5    

Ladies’ Doubles:     Helen Coulthard & Margaret Fenwick bt Barbara Charlton & Lyn Thompson     6-2, 6-2

Mixed Doubles:      Graham Iveson & Margaret Fenwick bt Matthew Midgley & Helen Coulthard    6-0, 6-1                           

Veterans’ Mixed:     John Topham & Barbara Charlton bt Richard Owens & Debbie Pearson                6-2, 6-0                           

Men’s Plate:            This was a match between two new members, Josh Barratt bt Joe Cotton              6-1, 4-6, 6-4                 

Girls’ Singles:          Lucy Watts bt Alisha Brown   6-1, 6-2

 The committee will be arranging a presentation evening to award the cups/trophies to the winners.
