The ladies played their last match of 2023 at home against Wem. With a disappointing season so far the team were hoping to end on a high. The first pair of Jo and Catherine got off to a very slow start an could not find their form losing the first rubber in straight sets. The second pair of Jess and Speth got into their game straight away and fought hard to win a very close rubber 6-3, 7-5.
So it was 1 all after the first rubbers. Jo and Catherine were determned to play better and so it was, they won the first set to love and the second 6 - 3, so Oswestry were guaranteed a draw at least. Jess and Seth had a long tough rubber, the first set went to a tie break which they lost by the narrowest of margins and they were kneck and kneck in the second set just missing out 5-7.So the result was a draw, earning the team their first points since the early matches.
This result will not save the team from relegation, but there were some strong teams to contend with in this division . The club would like to thank all the players for their support especially to Jo who captained the play and provided transport to away matches.
