Match Report for Ladies2 v Boughey Gardens
The Oswestry Ladies second team travelled across the county to play their third fixture of the season at Boughey Gardens. The conditions, although warm, were very windy making control of the ball quite tricky. In the first round rubbers, the first pair of Carol Slater & partner Ruth Sperring, playing together for the first time, played the opposing first pair and they took a while to get into their stride and soon dropped the first set to love before finding their rhythm taking the second set 6-2 and the deciding set tiebreak 10-4. The second pairing of Rhian Morris & Zoe Harney played some long games with lots of deuces before eventually going down in straight sets 3-6, 4-6 to the opposing second pair. In the reverse rubbers Carol and Ruth, playing the opposing second pair, again took a while to get going and soon found themselves 0-4 down before staging a comeback to take the set 7-5 and then the second set 6-4. Rhian and Zoe played a more consistent game against the opposing first pair and came out impressive winners in straight sets 7-5, 6-4.
