Oswestry Tennis Club began its Centenary year celebrations with a fun social tournament for its members and guests.
A record 20 players took part, all playing six 4 game mini matches over a 2 hour period, culminating in a third/fourth place play off between the pairings of Martin Jenks/Bronwen Jenks and Jeffrey Li/Alys MacDonald and a grand final between the pairings of Sheila Williams/Carol Slater and Elspeth Cumpston/Ruth Sperring. The third/fourth place play off was won by the juniors pairing of Jeffrey and Alys whilst a thrilling closely fought grand final went down to a final game play-off and was won by Sheila and Carol.
The club’s next event in celebration of its centenary year is a Wooden rackets tournament to be held in May.
