Ladies 2nd team win again!

Oswestry Tennis Club's 2nd ladies team played host to a team from Norton-in-Hales for their 6th fixture of the summer league season.

In the first round rubbers Jo Dalietos and Ruth Sperring resumed their successful partnership with a 6-1 6-1 victory. Due to injuies, the 2nd pair of Carol Slater and Bronwen Jenks were playing together for the first time but soon gelled to take their 1st rubber 6-0 6-3.

Going into the reverse rubbers with a healthy 2-0 lead, Jo and Ruth continued their great form dropping only 1 game, winning 6-0 6-1, whilst Carol and Bronwen won a tight 1st set 6-4, which could have gone either way. The opposition then took the 2nd set 1-6, so a final set tie-break was required to decide the result. The Oswestry ladies soon took a 4-1 lead and although their lead was pegged back to 2 points, Carol and Bronwen finally prevailed to win 10-7 giving the home team the maximum 4 points for the match.

The team are now in 2nd place in the division, just 1 point behind the leaders, with 2 fixtures left to play.
