At long last - welcome to the official start of our 21st season! We had grand plans for our 20th birthday celebrations in May but, unfortunately, due to the virus these could not go ahead. At least the weather has been fairly settled and consequently the courts have been very busy since play resumed.
Membership
You should have received notification that fees and Clubspark activation were due on 1st August and it is great to see that we have gained many new members. I'm delighted to say that Karen Moore has taken on the role of membership secretary. She should now be your first port of call for membership enquiries. Her contact details can be found at the end of this letter.
Court Bookings
We have introduced a court booking system through Clubspark and this seems to be working well.
Please book a court before playing as this not only means that you are assured of a court but also allows us to keep track of who is using the courts. The LTA require us to keep records for NHS test and trace purposes. It is also very important to cancel a court if you find that you no longer need it.
Coaching
Only paid up members are eligible to participate in the club coaching sessions so please ensure membership is renewed for the new season.
There are currently five junior coaching sessions each week. The coaching team of Dave Revell and Jonny Woolf are on hand for group and individual sessions. The next term will run from Sunday 6th September to Thursday 3rd December2020 at a cost of £72.00 for 12 weeks. Fees for coaching are payable to Dave Revell. Current attendees will be contacted soon.
There is a Ladies group on Tuesday mornings which is lively and well attended and for the active retired or semi retired, coaching takes place on Thursday morning from 10.30-11.30am

Social Tennis
We can now resume social sessions but we do need to keep a record of who is attending which means you will need to sign up beforehand.
Saturday afternoon social is held between 4.00 and 6.00. This is open to all standards from beginners to the more experienced player. There is a WhatsApp group already for this and if you wish to be added to this please let Martin Telfer know (contact details below).
Monday morning social is held between 10.00 and 12.00. It is aimed at a more “relaxed” game. Please contact Chris Holt (contact details below) if you are not already in the WhatsApp group for this session.
League Matches
These are all on hold at the moment but we are hoping to resume at the end of November. We will be entering teams in the Men's, Ladies', Mixed and Veterans leagues again and would really welcome some new faces. If you would like to be a regular or just play occasionally please let us know.
Visitors
We are happy for members to bring visitors to play with on payment of a fee of £2.50 per adult, £1.00 per student and £0.50 for juniors. This should be paid please by BACS - details are at the bottom of our Clubspark website home page – with a reference of the member's and visitor's name.

Safeguarding
As a condition of registration with the LTA we have to meet certain standards to ensure the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults. We have adopted safeguarding and diversity policies which can be found on our website. These include codes of conduct for both adults and children which, as a member of Pavenham Tennis Club, we should all be following. Please take the time to have a look.
Clubhouse and Floodlights
The clubhouse will remain closed until further notice. The outside water tap is now operational. As player access to the floodlights is inside the clubhouse these are not in use at present.
Events
Our usual tennis events are on hold at the moment but we are hopeful that we can fit them in before the end of the year.
