Tournament Rules
General Rules
- Matches are arranged by participants contacting each other to arrange a mutually convenient time to play. Permission to share contact details is a condition of entry to the tournament.
- All matches in the tournament will follow the same format. All matches will comprise two normal tiebreak sets (i.e. if games reach 6-6 then play normal tiebreak, first to 7 points and by 2 clear points is the winner). If the match is tied at one set all then the match will be decided by a championship tie-break (first to 10 points, and by 2 clear points).
- The Champions tiebreak follows the same rules as a normal tiebreak, aside from being first to 10, i.e. players change ends after every 6 points, the serve rotates in the same way, i.e. player 1 serves the first point, the next player servers two points etc.
- Players/pairs score 2 points for a win. At the end of the group stage, if players/pairs are tied on equal points then the following will be taken into consideration to decide the result: firstly number of sets won (including champions tie-breaks), secondly least number of sets lost (including champions tie-breaks), thirdly number of games won (including normal tie-break counting as one but not a championship tie break), fourthly least number of games lost (including normal tie break counting as one but excluding a championship tie break), lastly if still level, the drawing of lots.
- Players are responsible for arranging and playing their matches by the deadlines set. Any player having difficulties in getting another player to respond to efforts to arrange a game should report this to the tournament referee, Aron Feeley (07974 970318). The tournament referee has the right to withdraw any player from the tournament who, in the opinion of the referee, is not reasonably making him/herself available to play tournament matches.
- Any player/pair not completing all matches by the deadlines set (unless otherwise authorised by the tournament referee) will have all results scrubbed and those results will not count for opposing players/pairs either, unless authorised.
- Courts must be booked on Clubspark, courts 3 and 4 should not be used for matches. No games are to be played during Club Sessions unless courts are free and not being used by the club session participants.
- Players are to provide their own balls for club tournament matches – as a courtesy to other players can all participants make sure they provide their fair share of match balls.
- Any match curtailed by weather conditions must be restarted from the point at which play ceased, at a later agreed time or date.
- Any player who is forced to, or voluntarily drops out of, the tournament must notify the tournament referee and will have all matches played declared void. Such players can be replaced by a new player at the discretion of the tournament referee.
- Any player who is more than 15 minutes late for the start of a match will forfeit the match and a walkover is awarded with the score recorded as 6-0, 6-0.
- If a player starts a match but can’t complete the match for any reason a walkover is awarded with the score recorded as 6-0, 6-0.
- If a ruling is needed regarding any match involving the tournament referee then any such ruling will be made by the club’s Chairman, Lee Milford-Cottam (chairman@plumptontc.org.uk)
- Any questions - please contact tournament referee, Aron Feeley on 07974 970318 or aronfeeley@yahoo.co.uk.
- Scores must be e-mailed to committee@plumptontc.org.uk in order to be valid. It is the responsibility of the winner(s) to make the notification. The on-going results will be shown on the clubs website
- Arrangements for Finals Day will be notified by the Tournament Referee and all finalists are asked to make all efforts to make themselves available. The finals day will be on either a weekend or weekday in September. Ideally all finals will be played at the same Finals Day social event.
