Adult Coaching Programme

South East London Tennis provides affordable, quality tennis coaching to the local community. We teach our main programme at Ladywell Fields tennis courts and the Ladywell Centre Sports Hall. We run weekend programmes at Mayow Park and Manor House Gardens.   All sessions now must be booked online prior to attending. We run six to eight week courses and stand alone sessions which used to be our pay and play sessions pre Covid-19.  Bookings are accepted at any time in the term , if there is space, even if the course has started. We run the following sessions

  • Adult Cardio Tennis
  • Adult Beginners - 6 week Tennis Xpress course
  • Adult Improver / Intermediate / Intermediate Plus / Advanced / Advanced Plus
  • Doubles Social Play sessions
  • Over 50's

Tennis Levels - below is the criteria that will you work out your playing level and which group to attend.

  • Beginner – you are a completely new player to tennis. (Tennis Xpress course)
  • Beginner plus –  you are a player who has limited tennis experience. You're still working primarily on getting the ball into play, learning to judge where the ball is going and can sustain a short rally of 3 to 4 shots at a slow pace with players of a similar ability. (Tuesday doubles / Tennis Xpress follow on)
  •  Improver – you are a player who has possibly played for quite a while and you’re still developing consistency with ground-shots. You can sustain a rally of 6 to 8 shots by sending and receiving balls at a slow / medium pace. Your serve is focused on over and in and you can serve, rally, score on a full court. (Tuesday doubles / Wednesday @ 8pm & Saturday @ 12pm)
  •  Intermediate – you are a player who has possibly played for a number of years. You can consistently sustain a rally of 8 plus shots by sending and receiving medium paced shots with direction on both forehand and backhand. You are able to direct the serve and exhibit more aggression and success at the net (Monday @ 7pm, Tuesday doubles 7-9pm & Saturday 12pm)
  •  Intermediate Plus – you are an experienced player and when sending and receiving medium to fast paced shots, can consistently sustain a rally of 8 plus shots with a variety of direction and spin on all shots. You are starting to master the use of power and spins with serves and can consistently finish the point at the net. (Monday @ 7pm, Thursday doubles 7-9pm & Saturday 12pm)
  •  Advanced - you are a very experienced player and when sending and receiving fast paced balls can consistently sustain a rally of 8 plus shots with a variety of direction, depth, height and spin on all shots. You can consistently serve with power, spin and direction and can confidently finish the point at the net. (Thursday doubles 7-9pm)
  • Advanced plus – you are a very experienced tournament player with a rating of 6.2 to 1.1. You probably have played in Division 1 or 2 of the Kent League or equivalent for other counties, National Club League Div 1 or above and are eligible to enter Grade 3 and 4 tournaments. (Thursday 7 – 9pm)

All the sessions will be carried out according to Government Covid guidelines and social distancing and hygiene measures will be in place.
