Junior Coaching Programme
South East London Tennis provides affordable, quality tennis coaching to the local community. We teach our main programme at Ladywell Fields tennis courts and the Ladywell Centre Sports Hall. We run weekend programmes at Mayow Park and Manor House Gardens. You can view the timetable for each venue by clicking on the relevant venue in the blue header bar above. All sessions now must be booked online prior to attending. We run six to eight week courses and stand alone sessions which used to be our pay and play sessions pre Covid-19. Bookings are accepted at any time in the term , if there is space, even if the course has started.
- Children from the age of four years old are eligible to attend our sessions and we work a lot on the fundamentals of tennis whilst having fun with games. All the junior groups will now operate according to age and ability.
For example if your child is 4 to 6 years old they will be classed as LTA Youth Blue and according to their level / skill / experience will be either
- Blue (probably new to the sport or has had some coaching but is still trying to understand the basics
- Blue Plus (is probably more experienced and can hit a forehand, backhand, serve, rally and score. They are also starting to control the ball with various degrees of spin)
The criteria will run across all age groups as listed below
- LTA Youth Red or LTA Youth Red Plus (6 to 8 years old)
- LTA Youth Orange or LTA Youth Orange Plus (8 to 10 years old)
- LTA Youth Green or LTA Youth Green Plus (10+ years old)
- LTA Youth Yellow or LTA Youth Yellow Plus (11+ years old)
This will benefit all children individually and the coaching group as a whole as the focus can be on meeting the needs of that group where the players are of a similar level.
There are limits on the class sizes so if your recommended classes are full eg Blue please do not book onto a different class eg Blue Plus.
All of our coaches are fully qualified, licensed, DBS checked and hold first aid qualifications.
