History & Facilities

Sandal Lawn Tennis Club was founded in 1885 and is located near to the historic Sandal castle in Wakefield. Originally having grass courts, Sandal now has six newly refurbished, excellent all weather courts. All of these courts have newly installed LED floodlights. In addition to this, we have a well-equipped pavilion, situated at the heart of the tennis club, with a kitchen, lounge area and toilet facilities. 

Further to this, we have recently refurbished our changing room facilities to an exceptional standard for those people who like to have a game before or after work. We also have ample room for parking, plus our location means we are stone’s throw away from the major roads into Wakefield and 5 minutes from the M1. 

Our overall aim is to encourage anyone of any age, ability or background to come and try tennis at our club.
