At Sandal Tennis Club, we have plentiful competitive opportunities for a wide variety of players. Take a look at the competitions we offer and are involved in:

Inter-club Competitions:

Mixed Wakefield and District League - This is a mixed league with 2 pairs compeating in each match.  We have 2 teams in this league.  Squad size, between 8 - 10 players.

Men's Leeds League - We have 2 teams, The 1st Team is currently in Division 3,  the 2nd Team is also in Division 3.  There are 8 men's divisions in the leeds leagues. This is a Men's team of 4 (2 pairs) per match. - Squad size between 8-10 players.

Ladies Leeds League - Founded 3 years ago and securing 3 consecutive promotions, the ladies first team team is in Division 1 for the 2026 Season.  This is a ladies team of 4 (2 pairs) per match. Squad size around 8 players.  This success led to the creation of a ladies second team that won division 4 of the ladies league in 2025, they will play in division 3 in 2026.

Huddersfield league - Extablished in 2024, having completed 2 years in the league we are in division 3.  This is a mens team of 6, 3 pairs per match.  This league has a social element to it, being the only league entered that requires teams to provide food and refreshments following a match.  matches are played on Tuesday eveneings.

Leeds Slam - This is an AUTUMN league competition, for when all the excitment of the summer is over.  Competition is designed so that matches last 2 hours.  The format consists of 3 men's singles, 1 ladies single, 1 mixed doubles match and 1 doubles match.  This is a new league and so currently there is only one division.

Winter League (Huddersfield) Mixed Doubles - This is a team of 4, 2 mixed pairs with a squad size of around 8. - We did not eter a team in 2025 but will revisit in 2026 subject to demand form members.

Ladder League - Singles (Open to all and all abilities)

Ladder League - Junior Ladder (Open to all juniors of the club)

• Every two weeks we arrange a fun match for you.
• You choose on which days you like to play.
• Your initial ranking will be based on you play level.
• You swap positions if you win a match with a higher ranked player.
• Doubles are played with a fixed partner, only the captain needs to register.

One Day Tournaments (Internal)- Hosted by the committee we hold 3 one day competitions each year.  The format is a mini league going towards a knockout competition.  Guaranteeing each entrant at least 3 matches

One Day Tournaments (External) - In addition the club hosts one day tournaments that can be entered by all via the LTA competitions website.  Dates for thes are set by an external organiser and are published by uis when agreed and known.

Mini Tennis Tournaments - Hosted by Head Coach Danny for those that play at the club and in the nearby area, giving them a friendly introduction to competitive tennis.

Annual Adult and Junior Club Championships - A range of competitions, incorporating singles, doubles, mixed doubles, Vets.  This was organsied as a series of round robin competitions with the top one or two from each group category then moving to a knockout competition.  Allowing all those that want to challenge themselves the chance for several competative matches. The competitions resulted in a coming together for a final's day to showcase the best players in the club complemented by other members of the club who watch the matches, support the players and enjoy some food and drink. - Look out in the club house for further information for 2025.  Entries for the club competitions start around April / May with Finals day being in September.
