CoVid Temporary Court Rules

COURT REGULATIONS
Following the announcement of the Government’s easing of the Lockdown restrictions, the
LTA Guidelines for Safe Play have been modified and in accordance with these guidelines, we
have made some changes to our Court Regulations as detailed below.
Please note that for the time being, the Clubhouse will remain closed due to difficulties in
maintaining a safe environment inside the premises and to discourage gatherings that
would likely contravene the social distancing rules.
We continue to ask members to use common sense over the use of the courts and to take
responsibility for their own safety. The main changes to the Court Regulations are:-

1. Singles and Doubles can be now played by members of different households. Players
do not need to use their own marked tennis balls. However, if you choose to use
shared balls, avoid touching your face and clean your hands before and after play.
Avoid picking up loose balls from either court - use your racquet/foot to return them.

2. Members are strongly reminded of our original court booking regulation whereby No
player or member of a playing group should book either court under another name
consecutively or concurrently. This is particularly relevant now to prevent cross-court
intermingling of players and to effectively prevent an eight player “Clubnight” style
session. Please choose your foursome beforehand and do not mix play between the
two courts.

3. There must be a reasonable time buffer between bookings. The system will allow
normal bookings for the maximum of 1.5 hours but players should stop playing and
vacate the courts 10 minutes before the next booking is due to start. Always assume
that there is a court booking following yours and do not wait for the next players to
arrive on court before leaving.

4. To avoid contact with potentially contaminated objects, members must bring alcohol
-based hand sanitiser/wipes to the club to use before touching the gate or handling
other surfaces when entering and leaving the court.

5. Members should avoid using the court and clubhouse benches.

6. The nets are set at the correct height and should remain in this position. The winding
mechanism has been removed.

7. Please observe all distancing rules during arrival, play and departure and leave the
Club as soon as you have finished playing. Avoid the “3Hs” – Hugging, Handshakes and
High Fives.

To minimise person-to person contact, and whilst the Club acknowledges permitted
gatherings of not more than a group of six, spectators are discouraged from coming to the
club unless the presence of a parent, guardian or carer is necessary in which case, such
numbers, whilst not being counted as part of the group, should be kept to a minimum.
