Celebrating our Centenary in 2024 South Creake Tennis Club

Courts closed for the winter - see you next year!

The courts are now closed for maintenance and the winter. We hope you enjoyed playing during our Centenary Year and look forward to seeing you again in May 2025.

South Creake Tennis Club

A family-friendly grass court club in the beautiful village of South Creake

South Creake Tennis Club was founded in 1924 and is one of the very few grass-only clubs in the country. It is run entirely by volunteers and has a membership of over 200.

The club's two courts are on the village playing field, near to the Memorial Pavilion where parking is available.

The courts are available for use by anyone in the community and visitors are welcome.

The playing season runs from May to September, weather permitting. Memberships and casual court hire are available, with everything handled online.

The club offers a summer programme of coaching for children and adults with LTA accredited coaches.

We would like to thank our commercial sponsors for their support: Smith & Pinching, financial advisors of Norwich, The Grove Veterinary Hospital and Clinics of Fakenham and Hayes & Storr solicitors. For more details scroll to the bottom of the page and click a logo.

We also gratefully acknowledge funding from South Creake Charities, Jack's Lane Windfarm Community Fund and the Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk.

You can support us when you shop online through Easyfundraising. It's simple and fun. We are also grateful for donations which can be made securely on the Support page.

Please park in the Memorial Pavilion car park and not on the grass verges around the courts.

Centenary Vintage Tournament, Saturday 17th August

To mark 100 years of tennis at South Creake on the grass, the Club organised a costume exhibition tournament during the village sports centenary celebrations on Saturday 17th August.

A high standard of period attire was matched by enthusiastic play. Unfortunately, there was an incident in the second semi-final leading to a heated dispute with the umpire, Colonel Kitbag of the Tandoori Rifles. This resulted in all four players being shown the colonial equivalent of the red card and sent off court. Happily five of the local village urchins, who had been pressganged as ballboys and girls, took up the wooden rackets and entertained the crowd while the adults cooled off. Eventually peace was restored and the final was played, resulting in victory for Sebastian and Fran Brunt.
