New Year's Walk

A dozen members of the Club took part in the 2023 New Year’ Walk around the Chidham peninsula, a walk embracing the Bosham Channel shoreline path, a shingle beach section and the atmospheric ‘Great Expectations’ shoreline run where, at any moment, if you let your imagination run wild, you fully expected Abel Magwitch to spring out from behind a hedge!

What was fascinating about the walk was the difference a week’s weather can make to the surface of the ground. When our expert reconnaissance team had walked the walk the previous week, there was not a trace of mud in sight! One week later, a series of frosty mornings had taken their toil and produced a light and slippery sludge (in highly restricted sections of the walk, of course!) which certainly added to the interest of the occasion.

All well that ends well. Here is the group emerging from the The Old House at Home after a very wholesome pub lunch.
