Our club chair, Tim Herman, ran a very successful tournament on Sunday and wanted primarily to thank all participants for all their time and efforts, especially to those who stepped in at the last minute, struggled with traffic, and the valiant few who played with two partners as injuries took their toll.
Hopefully those who had to retire Injured are making a speedy recovery
The winners were:
Main Competition : Carol Clark and John Kemble with the runners up Linda Swinburne and Tony Tull.
Superior Plate: Ian Fryer and Helen Nelson with runners up Una Herman and Mark Mays,
Interestingly in both competitions each match went to a third set tie-break.
However, the plate itself was won by Nicky Whild and Nick Moth with a walkover as their opponents had to retire injured.
Finally a big shout out to the Tuesday Ladies who provided a significant number of our players so thank you for your support. A big thank you also goes to Tim and Una who spent many hours organising this for us and put in a very long day on Sunday
The event went on for a little longer than expected due to various unforeseen circumstances Next year we will endeavour to have a shorter format competition.
