Head Coach

Rob Hodge, SBTC Head Coach

Rob Hodge is our Head Coach at Stamford Bridge Tennis Club. Below is some information that Rob would like to share with members.

I have been tennis coaching for seven years. This has taken me to a variety of tennis clubs and schools within the York area.

I pride myself on being passionate andenthusiastic for each session and encouraging players where possible no matter what their level is. I really enjoy introducing people to this magnificent sport and I’m passionate about breaking down barriers to give more people opportunities to play tennis.

My biggest achievements in tennis coaching to date are contributing to Wigginton Tennis Club winning The Yorkshire Disability Tennis award in 2021 and helping two players from York Disability Tennis Network to compete at The Special Olympic World Games at Berlin in 2023, where they won a bronze medal in the mixed doubles.

As well as coaching I am also a member of The Association of British Tennis Officials. During this time I have officiated at 12 Wimbledon Championships, one US Open and two Billie Jean King cup ties. My officiating highlights are getting on Arthur Ashe stadium at the US Open for Roger Federer v Nick Kyrigos. Closer to home I have been lucky enough to be selected for two Wimbledon finals, 2022 men’s final and the 2023 ladies final
