Is the club suitable for beginners?
Yes. We can offer beginners social sessions, supporting coaching ssessions and you can join in our Box Leagues to play with other players of similar ability.

How do I get a game of tennis?
We offer social sessions (go here) and have various WhatsApp groups to help introduce you to members to help facilitate play. If you are interested in joining any of our WhatsApp groups, tell the treasurer (treasurersteppstennis@gmail.com) when you join/re-join.

Do you provide playing equipment?
No. You require to provide your own racquets and balls. Used match balls are, however, available for purchase during the league seasons at a cost £2 per 4-ball tin.

How do I reserve a court?
You can book courts online for up to 90 minutes. This can only be done once you are a member.

Can I access coaching?
Of course you can! SLTC offers a wide range of coaching options for adults and juniors run by our Club Coach, Karen Christie, and her team of coaches. Check out the Coaching tab for all the details.

How do I access the courts?
Courts access is via the clubhouse. You will be supplied with the main door code on joining. Toilets are fully accessible within the clubhouse.

Do I have to pay for use of the floodlights?
No. Floodlight costs are included in your membership fee. The lights switches are located in the clubhouse lobby.

How late can I play in the evening?
Play should be completed and courts brushed no later than 10pm.

Do I need to brush the courts after I have played?
YES! Provided nobody is coming on after you. However, do not brush the courts if they are very wet or frozen.

Can I bring a non-member to play?
A non-member can be brought as a guest of a Senior member for a nominal fee of £5. This can occur only 2 times per year. Thereafter, they would require to join the club. Check out our Guests section for details.

Are there lockers and showers available?
No. Our clubhouse does not provide such facilities.

Do you play team tennis?
Yes. The club operates six Summer teams (1 Gents singles, 3 Gents doubles, 2 Ladies doubles), Autumn Seniors (40+) teams (1 Gents doubles, 2 Ladies doubles) and two Winter League teams (3 gents & 3 ladies) (1 Sunday, 1 Monday). The team captians are always on the look out for new talent. Refer to the Teams tab for information.

Do you offer club championships?
Yes. We offer Senior and Junior/Mini Club Championships over the summer culminating in Finals days in August/September. A call for entry occurs later in the season with competitions starting shortly after entry closes.

Can I get involved with running SLTC?
We rely on our members and their voluntary efforts to keep the tennis club going and always welcome any input or time
members are able to give. Please contact the President or any committee member if you would like to get invovled or have
any ideas for improving or developing the club.
