Club Finals Day 2025

Well today saw the conclusion of another club championships finals day for the tennis section of SLT&SC, and what a successful day it turned out to be.
With poor weather forecast, we moved the start time from 10am to 9am and used all 3 courts for the early matches which proved to be a blessing - not a spot of rain was had during any of our matches and writing this now, I see the rain coming down and it's getting heavier.

Firstly, thanks so much to the wonderful support that was provided for the day by so many and thanks to all those who gave up their time to umpire and line judge - which is not an easy task.

The cakes and biscuits were delicious - thanks to all our bakers who brought their delights along for finals day.

We hope everybody enjoyed the day as we witnessed some excellent tennis.

The results were as follows ...

  • u14 boys - LM won against  CM 6-3, 6-2
  • u18 boys - Finlay Platt won against DG 6-1, 6-1
  • Ladies Singles Plate - SJ won against WH 6-1, 6-3
  • Mens Singles Plate - Glen Williamson won against Colin Hynes 6-4, 7-5
  • Ladies Singles - LL won against AD 6-2, 6-2
  • Mens Singles - Jack Lindsay won against Colin Sanchez 3-6, 6-3, 6-4
  • Ladies Doubles - Maureen Hemphill & LL won against Wendy Hamlet & Avril Allan 6-1, 6-3
  • Mens Doubles - Chris Spiers & Finlay Platt won against Glen Williamson &  Briag Mallat 6-1, 6-4
  • Mixed Doubles - Paul Gardiner & Maureen Hemphill won against Duncan Scott & Wendy Hamlet 7-6, 6-2

Well done to all the winners and runners up for making each final so competitive and enjoyable to watch.

Can all the winners please get the trophy's engraved.
I know there are a few years where they have not been engraved (men's singles trophy for example), so please can we get the trophies updated to include the winners of the missing years.
The club will reimburse you for the engraving costs.

Lastly, thanks again for all who helped support today and help making it such a success.

Regards

Graham Banks on behalf of SLT&SC
