Tennis Repairs
Our fencing has been successfully repaired by Ark Construction.
At the same time Peter and a band of volunteers repaired the tennis nets on 12&3. Thanks to Fatima, Kerry, Nikki, Enid, Andrew, Martin, Nigel and foreman Peter.
Now the new fence is up players notice how without the screens there is substantial light pollution from Uni hockey pitch lights at night - and the distraction of players 'behind the bowlers arm' that affects both the upper and lower courts. Even during daylight, players moving around can be clearly seen from courts 123 and 456 - far from ideal.
The screens we had up were very good at stopping light - BUT also stopped over 90% of wind from passing through - causing the fence to collapse during a northerly gale after over 20 years. Investigation has located screens that will allow around 50% wind penetration - but not stop quite as much light
The picture shows the light pollution at night and further trial samples etc are expected imminently to allow us check effectiveness. Peter
