Macmillan Coffee Morning in Times of Covid

Dear All,

RE: TLTC Midweek Macmillan Coffee Morning

In light of the latest Government restrictions on social gathering, we have, with regret, been constrained to conclude that the logistics of organising the event within the current guidelines are simply too difficult and that, therefore, we must cancel the event.

This is a great disappointment as so many of you have supported Macmillan Cancer Support, a very worthwhile charity, via the club coffee mornings over the years (to well over £5k to date). However, it will still be possible to make a donation via the following methods:

  1. I will bring the Macmillan donation bucket to our Midweek Section social sessions on 22, 24 and 29 September and 1 October and leave it on the table tennis table for cash and cheque donations which I will bank in the usual way. I will also leave a collecting box, probably on Anthony’s desk.....but please follow the social distancing rules. Cheques should be made out to Macmillan Cancer Support.

  2. Online or over the ‘phone. Go to macmillan.org.uk/coffee or ‘phone 0330 102 7890 and use your credit or debit card.

  3. I have a Macmillan poster which goes on about QR code stickers which I will place on the inside of a clubhouse window. The instructions say “Open your smartphone’s camera. Hold the camera over the QR code sticker. Click to be taken to a secure website to make your donation.” (PLEASE do not ask me about this particular method as I am an IT dinosaur and am clueless as to what this means.)

As ever I will be equipped for some months with gift aid forms for those whose personal tax position permits them to sign. Gift aid, of course, adds 25% to the donation made.....a very useful sum for Macmillan Cancer Support.
