Frequently asked questions

When are the Courts open?

Every day from 9.00am until dusk (courts close in line with daylight hours). Please note some courts may be booked for coaching activities or events.

Do I have to be a resident of Mid Sussex to play?

No, everyone is welcome.

I only want to play once or twice, what can I do?

We offer casual Pay as you Play Tennis charged at £7.00 for full rate bookings and £3.50 for discounted rate bookings per court per hour. Simply register, book and pay for your court.

How do i sign up as a discounted rate user?

If you are eligible for our discounted rate (see our charges leaflet for more information) please email us at bookings@midsussex.gov.uk and we will provide you with more information on how to register with the system correctly so the correct rate is applied.

Who does the discounted rate apply to?

Discounted rate is applicable under the followinf conditions:

  • Juniors – To qualify for the discounted rate facility users must be under the age of 17 at the time of hire.
  • Students – To qualify for the discounted rate facility users must be in full-time education and be able to produce a valid student card at the time of payment.
  • Unemployed - To qualify for the discounted rate facility users must be able to produce a valid JSA40 form at the time of payment.
  • Senior Citizens - To qualify for the discounted rate facility users must be aged 60 or over at the time of hire
  • Disabled Users – Discounted Rates Apply
  • Compass Card holders

Once I have booked my court, how do I get access?

Once you have booked your court, you will receive your booking confirmation.

Your booking confirmation will include a 4-digit gate code which you can then enter on the keypad at the gate. It is always useful to have your booking confirmation handy for inspection purposes.

What do I do if my gate code doesn't work?

Please double check that you are trying to use the correct gate code for the court. If you are, please call the telephone number that is on your booking confirmation during office hours (01444 477379) and we will be able to help.

Can I make a booking for coaching purposes?

Only coaches appointed by Mid Sussex District Council are authorised to deliver coaching activities on the courts. If you are interested in delivering or receiving coaching services, please get in touch at bookings@midsussex.gov.uk

Can I hire equipment?

Unfortunately we do not offer that facility.

How do I cancel a booking?

You can cancel your booking online. If you have any problems with this, please give us a call on 01444 477379 during office hours (Mon- Thur 9am-5:15pm, Fri 9am – 4:15pm). Out of courtesy please cancel as soon as you know so others can play.

If I see damage to the courts or anti-social behaviour who should I tell?

If you notice the courts are damaged or unsafe please contact us on 01444 477379 so we can investigate and arrange repairs.

If you witness anti-social behaviour on courts from users that is not in keeping with those set out in the terms and conditions, please also report this on the number above so users can be addressed and appropriate action taken.

If you have a problem with anti-social behaviour outside office hours then please call Sussex Police on 101.
