Child Supervision Policy
Tennis Come True - Aldersbrook LTC Child Supervision Policy
Date Policy Approved: January 2026
General
All children under the age of 14 must be supervised by their parent or other responsible
adult whilst at ALTC outside of any coaching sessions or camps, including when using the
courts and clubhouse.
If you leave your child in the care of another adult, a specific arrangement should be made
with that adult and your child needs to be aware of the arrangement.
Young children should be closely supervised and not be left unattended at any time.
Please do not allow your children to cycle or scoot around the grounds.
Coaching
During coaching sessions and camps run by Tennis Come True, children over 6 years old
may be left in the care of the coach. Coaches are LTA accredited, first aid trained,
safeguarding trained, and DBS checked and therefore suitably qualified.
Parents or guardians of children aged 6 and under must stay for the duration of the
coaching session/camp, and must help their children when going to the toilet, as well as
supervising them at all times within club grounds, including the clubhouse, before and after
the sessions.
Arriving and leaving coaching sessions or camps
Children aged under 11 must be delivered directly to the coach and collected from them.
However, children aged 9 and 10 can leave a coaching session or camp unattended if
permission has been given to the coach in writing. It is not sufficient to drop a child off
outside or at the front door of the venue. Parents/guardians must ensure that their child
has been delivered to the coach. If the parent/guardian has arranged for another adult to
collect their child, the coach should be informed of this in advance.
Children of 11 and over will be allowed to leave unattended unless the coach has been
advised otherwise.
Once the session/camp has finished, unattended children should immediately leave the
premises (unless they are 14 or over when they are permitted to remain on the grounds
unsupervised).
Clubhouse
Please respect the clubhouse and clear up after use. Please be aware that CCTV is in
operation in the clubhouse.
Children can use the table tennis table and pool table so long as they are closely supervised
and the child is of a suitable age/maturity to use these facilities safely. Parents will be
responsible for any damage caused by their children.
No children should be allowed in the kitchen.
Please do not share the entry code for the clubhouse with your children or any person
unknown to you.
Changing/showering
There are no circumstances where a child should use the shower.
If a child needs to get changed (e.g. before a coaching session), this should only be done
under the supervision of the parent/carer. The child will only be in the care of the coach
after they have changed and attend a coaching session.
Toilets
Children under 6 attending coaching sessions or camps must be accompanied to the toilets
by a parent/carer.
Children under 9 attending coaching sessions or camps will be walked to the toilets by the
coach to check that no adults are using the toilets/changing rooms, and then return to the
courts.
Children 9 or over will be allowed to leave the court to use the toilet unaccompanied.
