Zurich have been the sponsors of our successful schools initiative for every year since the 2018/19 academic year. Their funding and support have allowed thousands of local schoolchildren the opportunity to play tennis and receive coaching in school for FREE.

ZURICH - ISLE OF MAN: IOM LTA SCHOOLS TENNIS FINAL DAY

On the 30th June, the schools that had received the delivery of the Zurich - Isle of Man Tennis Programme and had entered the Finals Day Tournament, met up at the National Sport Centre. The teams consisted of 5 players and the scoring system was that every point counted, everything to play for!

Rob Comber, IOMLTA TDO said that the juniors had a great time playing against the other schools in their head to head matches, showing their talent and great competitive play. The juniors showed incredible improvement through the day and also showed fantastic sportsmanship throughout the ups and downs.

Rob commended the juniors on their politeness and attitude through the day – they made the whole day a wonderful event.

After the dust had settled, and after some incredible match play, the final standings ended very very close. The 2nd & 3rd placing came down to a head to head count back as their scores were even!

7th – Braddan – 154 points

6th – Anagh Coar – 175 points

5th – St Mary’s Second Team – 181 points

4th – Manor Park – 202 points

3rd – St Mary’s First Team – 245 points

2nd – Ballacottier Second Team - 245 points (Ballacottier 2 beat St Mary’s 1 in the head-to-head by 3 points, 39 points – 36 points)

1st – Ballacottier First Team – 298 points

Rob would like to take this opportunity to thank all the schools for their participation on the day, the teachers for their brilliant support, Margaret Drake for the school visits, delivery and assistance with the final’s day, the National Sports Centre for allowing us to hold the event and the IOM LTA partners Zurich - Isle of Man for their continued support - as without this support the Junior Tennis Programme could not be delivered.
