CLUB TOURNAMENT and SOCIAL REPORT for 2025 by Angela Rezki
The club tournament continued with a similar format as last year with some round robin games in the doubles and knock out in the singles. I also introduced the plate competition; this gives more opportunity for members to reach a final. Playing by deadline dates set still proves to be a problem and causes delays we held the finals on one day apart from ladies’ singles, men’s singles and mixed doubles as yet again rain stopped play.
All matches were two sets and a championship tiebreaker decider to ten points if the match was one set all.
There were ten men and eight women in the singles, six pairs in the men’s doubles, nine in the mixed doubles and six in the ladies’ doubles. Entries for each category were more than last year.
The Webster/Morton encouraged people to take part as no first team players are allowed to enter, this attracted 16 members and was played to the final stage on one day. Players changed partners every round.
All efforts were made to make finals day prestigious with score boards, a programme, thank you Deborah, umpires and some lovely pizzas supplied by Tony Seth and Laura thank you, same next year please and deserts supplied by members.
The club champions 2025

• End of Season Meal at the Top Brink 19th September was attended by 23 members.
• Christmas Dinner was held on the on 12th December with 35 members attending an excellent evening, we also welcomed members from the pickleball group. Todmorden Golf Club hosted this event with good company/food and games. The trophies were presented by the president.
