Membership is free to LTA affiliated club members. There are many benefits including LTA rating and entry to the British Tennis Wimbledon ticket ballot.

CLUB SESSIONS Club Sessions - for Adults & Students members. Juniors can play at the invitation of an adult member.  All standards welcome but not suitable for beginners. See Timetable for Club Sessions

Club Sessions are mixed doubles with all players mixing in. If people are waiting short deuces are played.

                                

TOURNAMENTS & LEAGUES

Club Championships .

Spring & Autumn, all members are encouraged to enter. See Events Board (noticeboard or website) and Newsletter for information

County Leagues.

There are men’s and women’s teams in the Shropshire Summer League, mixed teams in local Autumn and Winter Leagues. If you are interested in being considered for any of the teams (including juniors recommended by the coach)  get in touch with the Team Captains or come along to the practices. Team practices and matches – men’s 6pm Thursday, women 6pm Tuesday, all members welcome.

Periodically held for both juniors and adults. See under List of Events (notice board).

GUEST & VISITORS FEES

Guests’ fees are £4.00 a visit. Guests may play only at the invitation of a member and no more than 2 times before membership is required,  It is the hosting member’s responsibility to sign in their guest and pay the fee. 

Trying out the Club with view to becoming a member – a player can play twice for free after that membership is required. - See Club Visitors Policy and Coaching for special circumstances where this rule does not apply..

 

JUNIORS

Juniors can play any time during the day – check court bookings.   Visitors’ rules apply to all members including Juniors, Shoe tags to be worn at all times, these identify you as a current members, failure to do so may result in being asked to leave the court. Juniors may attend club sessions at the invitation of an adult member. Juniors should always be supervised by a parent or appropriate adult, namely an adult member with DBS check.  All communication with Juniors shall be through parent/guardian. CLUB HOUSE & GROUNDS

The maintenance, upkeep and housekeeping of the grounds and clubhouse are carried out by members.  Please volunteer to help us to maintain our facility by

  • Volunteering to help at working parties.
  • Volunteering for Cleaning & Grass Cutting Rota
  • Return crockery to the kitchen and leave clean & tidy.
  • Take your rubbish & recycling home.
  • When leaving please ensure all lights are off, clubhouse is locked and all balls returned to the club house...

 

 

CLUB HOUSE ENTRY

Entry to the Clubhouse is by the key in the key safe., members are given a code to the key safe which is changed periodically.

Before leaving – check the Clubhouse is locked and that there is no one inside and the key is safely returned to the key safe.

We ask that children only use the Clubhouse and changing rooms with the appropriate supervision – see safeguarding and the use of changing room policies.

 

TENNNIS CLUB REQUESTS & SPORTING ETIQUETTE & CONDUCT

At club sessions all players mix in for mixed doubles. Please be aware if people are waiting to play - and suggest playing short sets and short deuces.

Show consideration, respect and encouragement to your fellow members and members of visiting teams.

Unsporting behaviour, bullying and bad language are unacceptable.

Matches take precedence, see fixtures, see times and dates of matches on the NB. Please support our teams

Please no walking at the end of the courts when play is in progress.

Lights to be turned off at 10pm.

 

SHOE TAGS

Shoe tags are issued annually, they identify you as a current member, please wear them at all times, failure to do so may result in a request to leave the court.

 

ARE YOU DRESSED FOR TENNIS?

Appropriate tennis attire and footwear is expected at ALL times. Club branded polo shirts,  sweatshirts and other accessories can be ordered through the club – Tami Murray 07712009548

 

COMMUNICATIONS and notifications to members, will be sent by email from the secretary from .  townwallstennisclub@outlook.com.  Your details will be kept on the Clubspark  secure data base and used only for club purposes.  Communications with juniors will only be through their parent/guardian

BALLS

Tennis balls are provided by the club. New balls are provided for all matches. Return them to the club house when you have finished playing. Place all old balls in the container provided, balls are recycled and sold for club funds.

 

SOCIAL EVENTS & FUND RAISING FOR NOMINATED CHARITY

Social and fundraising event events are held throughout the year and include Tournaments, BBQs, quizzes, annual dinner, music events, new ideas are always welcome!

 

 

WIMBLEDON TICKETS

The Club is an LTA affiliated club You can register and receive information for Wimbledon tickets if you are a British Tennis Member www.lta.org.uk/membership

 

COURT BOOKING

It is advisable to book your courts. Clubspark booking programme is used, Courts can be booked no more than 5 days in advance https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/townwallstennisclub

CLUB WHATSAPP GROUPS

These groups are a good source of daily information. To have your name added to any of these groups text Jane Gibson 07816 752237 or Tami Murray 07712 009548 It is for adult members only

TWTC Sessions is a broadcast only group to help the committee monitor the various club sessions. We will start to release courts for booking by individuals if it is seen that members are not planning to attend.   Therefore if you think you will go please tick the weekly poll - you can always untick if your plans change.

TWTC Club Chat should only be used for tennis and tennis club related matters.  If you are short of a player, post a message on this group. 

TWTC Social will be set up and all members will be invited to join. You may not wish to.

This new group is for members to share news or photographs which fall outside the rules of TWTC Chat. 

If you post in the wrong group please do not be offended if the administrators ask you to remove your post.

 

SAFEGUARDING There is a copy of the Safeguarding Policy on the notice board and on the Club website. TWTC safeguarding-policy July 2023.docx

If you have young children playing it is important to familiarise yourselves with this policy. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.   Any concerns please get in touch with the Club Safeguarding Officer

INCIDENTS AND ACCIDENTS FIRST AID & DEBFIBRILLATOR The incident and accident book and first aid box are in the cupboard marked first aid. Please follow instructions listed on the cupboard door for reporting accidents and incidents. A defibrillator is located at the Clubhouse.

The Club’s indemnity Insurance is provided through our Club LTA affiliation.

 

EMERGENCY CONTACTS  It is important for all members to enter their emergency contacts with their membership details.

 

HEALTH & SAFETY The Club aims to keep you safe and limit accidents. Please report any unsafe practices or incidents to the Health & Safety Officer.

CAR PARKING AND CYCLE STAND

Please park in the designated Town Walls spaces. These parking spaces are ONLY to be used while you are playing tennis. There is bike stand for the use of cyclists.
