Matt has been coaching full time since 1991. In that time he has run private clubs and has worked at both Batchwood and Gosling tennis centres. He has coached numerous players to national standard and has worked with some of the best county squads in Hertfordshire.
He has represented Hertfordshire both at senior level and at over 35 level.
Matt currently holds a Performance Coach Award (level 5) and is fully committed to continuous professional development ensuring he is up to the minute with all the latest in coaching techniques. He has been involved with Townsend since he was 14 years old and has been running the coaching programme since 2001.
Neil has been coaching at Townsend since 2006. He holds a Club Coach Accreditation Level 3. A great all round sportsman, he used to play semi-professional football and is also a qualified personal trainer!
Jonathan is a LTA level 3 coach and has been part of the coaching team since 2013. Jonathan is the current men's first team captain and is an ex club singles and mixed doubles champion.
Rob has been coaching for over 20 years and has an LTA level 4 qualification. As a junior, he competed at national level and currently plays for the Herts over 45 Men’s county team.
Udev is an LTA Level 3 Licensed Coach, has been coaching for 15 years and has worked at a number of clubs across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. Udev has worked with Disability Tennis specifically learning disabilities and has completed the under 10's Mini Tennis Performance course. He is an also an LTA qualified entry level referee.
Jason is the newest member of the Townsend coaching team, having recently retired from the MET Police, whom he represented at various international Police tennis competitions. Jason has recently obtained his LTA licence level 3.
