Junior Tennis at Trowbridge Westbourne Tennis Club

We are proud to support young players of all abilities and provide a safe, welcoming environment where children can learn, develop and enjoy tennis.

Our junior programme is designed to help children build confidence, develop skills and make friends, whether they are picking up a racket for the first time or progressing towards competitive tennis.

Tennis is a fantastic sport for young people, helping develop coordination, balance, resilience and teamwork while having fun.

Coaching for Juniors

Our coaching programme, delivered by BlueSky Tennis, offers sessions for children and teenagers of all standards.

Sessions are designed to be fun, active and engaging, helping young players improve their tennis skills while enjoying being part of the club.

Coaching is typically structured by age and ability, allowing players to progress at the right pace.

The Junior Development Pathway

Young players can progress through a number of stages as their confidence and ability grow.

Beginner & Early Learning

Children new to tennis can start with fun coaching sessions that focus on:

  • balance and coordination
  • basic tennis skills
  • movement and teamwork
  • building confidence on court

Developing Players

As players improve they can:

  • attend more regular coaching
  • take part in junior competitions
  • play in fun club events

Progression into Adult Tennis

As juniors get older they may progress into:

  • adult club sessions
  • league matches
  • competitive tennis

This progression helps young players develop both their tennis and their confidence within the club community.

 

Opportunities for Junior Players

Junior members can take part in a range of activities including:

  • Junior coaching sessions
  • Club social tennis
  • Junior competitions and tournaments
  • Local and county tennis competitions
  • Progression into adult tennis and club teams

Structured junior competitions across Britain allow young players to represent their club and gain match experience as they develop their skills.

 

Future Opportunities

Junior players interested in developing further may also have opportunities to:

  • progress into coaching qualifications
  • complete the Tennis Leaders course (useful for Duke of Edinburgh awards)
  • assist with coaching at the club
  • develop leadership and mentoring skills
