Upcoming Activity
Developing Our Junior Section
The club is continuing to invest in junior tennis and create more opportunities for young players to develop, compete and enjoy the sport.
Following a recent meeting with BlueSky Tennis and club representatives, we are introducing a number of new initiatives and activities designed to strengthen the junior section and provide a clear pathway for young players.
New Saturday Junior Session
We are introducing a weekly junior session on Saturdays.
Starting: Saturday 25 April
Time: 11:00am-12.30pm
These sessions will provide:
- additional playing opportunities
- social tennis for juniors
- support for players developing their skills
Sessions will be supervised by a club organiser alongside our coaching team
New Junior Squad Sessions – Thursdays
From April we will introduce a Junior Team Squad Session on Thursday evenings - start date tbc.
This session will help support juniors who are:
- preparing for team tennis
- developing their match play
- progressing towards competitive tennis
Session times
From the start of the summer league season, the session will run:
4:30pm – 6:15pm
The club will fund these sessions to support junior development.
Junior Competitions & Match Play
We are expanding opportunities for juniors to experience competitive tennis.
Upcoming initiatives include:
National League Teams
Parents will be invited to help captain junior teams and support players on match days.
Junior Box Leagues
A new box league structure will allow juniors to organise matches and gain valuable match experience.
Club Championships
Junior events will be included in the club championships in September, with finals taking place on Finals Day alongside adult events.
Special Junior Events
Several fun and competitive events are planned during the year.
Play Your Way to Wimbledon
Sunday 19 April – 1:00pm
A national competition for junior players, with winners progressing through local and regional stages.
Good Friday Easter Fun Day
A family-focused event including:
- Red Ball mini tournament
- Easter egg prizes
- Easter egg hunt
- Hot dogs and refreshments
This event will be open to members and their families of all sizes and standards!
Safeguarding and Supervision
The club continues to maintain high safeguarding standards.
- Under 13s must have a parent present at the club.
- Over 13s may attend independently (subject to safeguarding guidelines).
- Sessions will be overseen by a responsible adult organiser alongside our coaching team.
This ensures a safe and supportive environment for all junior players.
Supporting Our Junior Section
The club is run by volunteers and we welcome support from parents and members.
Opportunities include:
- helping organise junior teams
- assisting with events
- supporting junior sessions
Together we can continue to build a thriving and welcoming junior tennis programme at the club.
