Veryan Vs St Austell 02/06/25

Another good match with some good tennis played and with a 10-1 win for Veryan which is the best result yet. Although it wasn’t long after our last match everyone played very well with some long sets played. There was some fatigued in the players but after a while they warmed up into and nicely cruised through the games.

With Luke and Sonny being the A pair again they had a slow start with the first set with it mainly going against serve but after awhile the nerves started to settle and they found their flow and managed to close out the first set 6-4. They kept the momentum going in the second set and managed to win with a bit less trouble than the first winning 6-3. In their second match they got off to a slow start after the little break between the matches but after losing the first to sets they went on to win the next 5 games before losing another one. Luckily, they kept their heads and won the set upon the next game to win 6-3. The second set went the exact same way which was a nice way to end a nice evening of tennis.

Nick and Chris were the B pair and after a flying first set winning it 6-0 the opposition fought back in the second set keeping it close but unfortunately St Austell won the second set 6-4. This meant it went down to a 10-point tie break which was again close Veryan came out on top with a 10-6 win winning the third set and the match. For their second match they kept on fighting but won the first set reassembly comfortable 6-3 but during the second set it was much closer and with many long rallies they finally managed to win the second set 6-4.

After a very long match that lasted over 2 hours St Austell provided some lovely food afterwards with some freshly baked bread, sausage rolls, sushi and some sweet treats as well we all had a good laugh and had a very relaxing time to wind down and to recover enough before heading home for a well-earned rest.
