Tuesday the 7th of April:
Wadebridge Easter open
A big thank you to Cole Rayment and White for there continued sponsorship of this event - as a result the winners and runners up are able to receive trophies in recognition of there achievements from this tournament offering events for players in mini and junior tennis.
A fantastic entry in the mini tennis saw players come from far and wide, fantastic to see players from the North of England down on holiday take time out to support Cornish tennis. A wide variety of standards and great sportsmanship from all competitors was on display - from players that play once a week to players that play every day this was a pleasure to see that tennis is truly a sport for one and all.
The afternoon unfolded and sister and brother were the local winners in the junior boys and the junior girls event. Mary and Ronnie Shanks from Launceston had a day to remember.
Wednesday the 8th of April
Launceston Easter open
The biggest entry of the week with 34 players in attendance across the mini and junior tennis.
Local players gave a great showing with Arthur Cann of Launceston making the orange semi final and narrowly missing out 10-8 to the eventual winner.
Once again there were home winners in the junior boys and junior girls with Owen Worth and Mary Shanks from Launceston taking the honours. A very hot day and a lot of tennis played in the right spirit.
Thursday the 9th of April
Road to Wimbledon (Wadebridge)
A disappointing entry compared to previous year's, however the event went ahead with the 14 and under boys and girls singles, 18 and under girls doubles and ladies doubles.
Jacob Cunliffe (Wadebridge) was the junior boys runner up. The junior girls winner was Saoirse Leach and Elsa Chapman runner up both of Wadebridge.
The ladies doubles runners up were Debbie Grant and Lyndsey Newcombe (Wadebridge).
Wishing all players that were the winners and the runners up all the very best of luck in the County finals.
A very successful week with a great deal of sunshine. My thanks to fellow coach Rachael Stacey who help me deliver three top events. Thank you to the Wadebridge Easter open sponsors Cole Rayment and White who were also on hand to present the trophies. Thank you to Gary at the Cornish Cobler who always supplies us with great service and trophies 🏆
Last but not least thank you to all the competitors, there families and friends for supporting a truly great week of competition at Wadebridge and Launceston tennis clubs.

Friday, October 31st, saw the final instalment of the Clash of the Clubs for 2025.
Established since 2012, Clash of the Clubs is a ratings competition for players in mini tennis and junior tennis from Wadebridge, Launceston and Bude.
In addition to the ratings competition, the clash of the clubs offers a point for attendance, points for matches played, and points for matches won. The club with the most points are crowded champions.
Wadebridge were the host club and reigning champions Launceston travelled in numbers.
A wet and windy day did not dampen an unforgettable day. 10 mini reds saw points for all three clubs with Isaac La Broy (Bude)
Win the youngest age group of the day.
Mini orange saw 4 competitors with the older brother of Isaac La Broy - Henry win the orange event for Bude.
6 Mini greens followed with Hamish Morshed of Launceston win a very competitive event.
The junior girls saw a home win for Wadebridge with the fast improving
Elsa Chapman taking the title
The junior boys event unfolded with Aslan Ferguson (Wadebridge) and Owen Worth (Launceston) reach the final.
Before the final Launceston were leading Wadebridge by one point on the clash of the club's leader board, 48-47.
With a point for each match played and each match won it was all to play for.
Aslan played a very solid match to win in straight sets. Scores were level.
Never before has clash of the club's finished level and it had to be decided.
Two players from Launceston and two players from Wadebridge were sent out to play a doubles tie break to seven points with a sudden death point should it get to 6-6.
Aslan Ferguson and Oscar Brown took to the court for Wadebridge and Owen Worth and Johan Perry for Launceston. Could it get move dramatic?
What unfolded could not be scripted, 1-5 to Launceston with Owen and Johan playing solid tennis, hitting winners and forcing errors from Wadebridge. 2-6 and match point Launceston. Aslan and Oscar lower the tempo and force errors from Launceston who are aware they require just one more point.
2-6 becomes 6-6, Wadebridge win the deciding point and it is the first time they took the lead and Oscar and Aslan secure the title for Wadebridge.
Final leader board
Wadebridge 50 points
Launceston 49 points
Bude 35 points
My thanks to all players, parents and extended family and friends who supported the event.
