Court Priorities
Court priorities
League matches and rearranged league matches always take priority. The highest team can decide which courts they want to play on, then the next highest selects their courts etc. Evening matches normally start at 6:30, but some league rules state that the courts must be available 15 minutes before the start time for knocking up. Matches early in the season sometimes start at 6 p.m.
If two blue courts are used for a league match then the third is not to be used for any other play as stray balls unconstrained by a fence can affect the outcome of a league match, mixing of balls may also be an issue. However, if there are no tarmac courts available and both "blue court" captains consent, then the third blue court may be used for non-league play.
Captains should not rearrange league matches that would interfere with socials or club tournaments unless absolutely necessary, and then only with the permission of the Chairman / Executive Committee.
Club open and handicapped tournaments have the next priority to use whatever courts are required as long as they are played on the allocated date. Tournament finals have priority over social tennis on the blue courts; if they are not played on the designated finals day then they may only take up one blue court during social tennis sessions.
Saturdays Social tennis takes precedent over other tennis from 12.30 pm until 4.00 pm.
Mondays Barkston Ash home matches take priority on the acrylic courts and the tarmac courts in the event of inclement weather
Tuesdays Social tennis has priority. Members should be aware that use of the tarmac courts is limited on a Tuesday evening as Wakefield School of Tennis deliver junior sessions.
Wednesdays Wakefield & District mathces take priority on the acrylic courts and the tarmac courts in the event of inclement weather.
Thursdays Leeds League Men's Tennis matches take priority on the acrylic courts and the tarmac courts in the evnt of inclement weather.
When the courts are not being used for league matches, social tennis or club tournaments, they are free to be used (during the times allowed) for other play e.g. fixed fours. This on a first come first served basis, and all players must be present in order to start using the court.
Don't forget that through the tennis season the astroturf courts are also available.
