The annual Walmley Tennis Club Junior Championships took place in glorious sunshine on Saturday 19th September, with some of the club’s most promising youngsters battling it out to be 16-and-under, 12-and-under and Mini-tennis champs.
Club coach Tom Clive praised the positive attitude of the competitors who, he said, ‘played each match in the right spirit’. He also thanked the teenage players for the support they showed for their Mini counterparts, helping them with their scoring and encouraging them along the way.
Thomas Delaney won the 16&U title, while Charlotte Delaney was 12&U champion. Zacharias Karafillides won the Mini Orange tournament, and Ben Murphy was victorious in the Mini Red category.
Unfortunately, due to a COVID-19 related issue at a local school, the Mini Green event had to be postponed but plans are being made for a later date.
