It was a case of ‘Game, Seat and Match’ when WTC members gathered for a surprise celebration to mark the 90th birthday of veteran tennis player Maurice Clayton.
Still competing to a high level, Maurice was presented with his own courtside bench, along with a personalised cap and cushion.
Fellow players formed an archway of tennis rackets to welcome much respected Maurice onto the court, before tucking into a celebration cake and zero-alcohol fizz.
Following the presentation Maurice picked up his racket, and with his usual gentlemanly style, showed younger members they still have a thing or two to learn if they are to get the better of ‘The Boss’.
