Steve Jones Bows Out As Club Chairman

Steve Jones chaired his ninth and final AGM last night as he passes the baton after nine great years at the helm. Steve has certainly had some challenges to address with the horrific flood of 2015 top of that list but his superb poise and leadership helped the club bounce back from that adversity and come back stronger than ever. The recent Covid outbreak once more meant difficult times but the club remained strong under his guidance .

Steve has overseen a number of projects and the new kitchen and balcony area has allowed the club to host many social and business events. The improved car parking expansion was driven by Steve and he has enjoyed seeing Wetherby establish itself as a leading club in the tennis world.

Steve is very dedicated and his attention to detail ensured he was very well prepared and able to lead from the top with great authority.

Steve is a connoisseur of beers, and we are sure he will enjoy tasting the above selection!

Steve is quiet and never likes to take the limelight, which is why I struggled to find many pictures of him, but his unassuming character proved a winning format during his time in the hotseat.

Thanks for the memories Steve and all your hard work and many members have benefited from your help and support over the years. Good Luck in your new role at Yorkshire tennis and we hope to see you on court soon as well.

Steve helped the Wetherby HDTL mixed first team to title success last season in Division 2 and has proved a more than useful asset on court over the years.
