Wing Tennis Club is a small, friendly, and competitive club near Leighton Buzzard. We have three floodlit courts and regular social sessions on Sunday mornings where we play tennis and pickleball. We strive to be one of the friendliest clubs around, priced at a great value.
Why not come and try tennis for yourself? Non-members are welcome to try a few sessions for free before deciding whether to join the club. It's an excellent way to keep yourself fit and healthy and a great way to meet new people. See you Sunday morning!
Wing Tennis Club’s History
The club was founded in 1989 and the courts, together with the bowls green, were opened in 1991. The three courts are constructed on the site of the old interwar grass courts that had been abandoned at the start of WWII. Lou Woodward, the last of the grass court champions opened the courts and donated the cup he won in 1939 to the club. During his opening speech Lou complained that modern-day rackets were too strong! The cup he donated is still used today and presented to the winner of the annual club championships.
In 2018, with support from Aylesbury Vale Community Chest, Wing Parish Council and Club funds the courts were resurfaced and new fencing was erected. As of the beginning of 2025, floodlights for all three courts have been fitted and can be used by our members.
Wing Tennis Club finally gets their floodlights switched on!
