Bowling
We are always looking for new members to join us!
Located in the most idyllic setting we have one of the best maintained and landscaped crown greens in the district thanks to our hard-working Greens Committee.
If you haven’t visited lately you’ll be impressed with our new paths and pathway lighting.
We offer scope for a wide range of bowling abilities and actively welcome members who are new to Crown Green Bowls. We have many social events throughout the year, and you’d struggle to find a more hospitable crowd than the members we have here!
Here is a quick look at what is on offer over a typical week at Almscliffe Bowling Club:
- Monday & Tuesday Evenings - Harrogate Evening League (HEL): Almscliffe have a team in each of the 4 HEL divisions allowing members to play competitive matches at levels of all abilities.
- Wednesday Afternoons- Friendlies- We currently have a schedule of 10 friendlies per year against other clubs. These are played in pairs and offer opportunities for new bowlers to be partnered up with a more experienced partner for a first taste of the match environment.
- Thursday Evening - Tadcaster Evening League (TEL): Almscliffe have played in the Tadcaster League over the past 10 years enabling members to play on new greens and meet members from another district. We have one teams playing on a Thursday evening in the TEL.
- Friday Afternoon - Harrogate Veterans League: We currently have 3 teams competing in an afternoon league for over 60s.
- Saturday Afternoon - Social Bowling: Something that really sets us apart from other clubs in the area is the huge participation in our social bowling on a Saturday afternoon. Members usually meet at around 2pm for non-competitive bowling along with some delicious tea and cakes!
- Sunday Afternoon - Internal Club competitions: We also have great participation in our own internal competitions. We have 5 of these held annually - usually on a Sunday. Allowing members (with varying handicaps) the chance to play other members in a fun ‘semi-competitive’ environment.
As you can see, we really do have something for everyone at all levels of bowling. We even have some ‘social only’ members who come down for the cakes and the BBQs!
Should you have any questions or wish to join, please call or contact via text. We offer free taster sessions to any potential new members.
Come down and see for yourselves on a Saturday afternoon and join us for a spot of bowling! We look forward to welcoming you.
