Social Events Programme
As members you can look forward to several social events throughout the year. Here's a quick summary of our latest.
Presidents Day & Summer Party August 2024
On Sat 17th August we held our President's Day Challenge and summer party at the tennis club. On a sunny afternoon we started off with a fantastic Walking Tennis taster session which was great fun - a different approach to tennis at a gentler pace with two bounces allowed.
This was followed by a mini tournament for members with the President's Team taking on the Challengers, with teams made up of members playing each other at doubles. The overall winners this year were the President's Team. Tea, coffee and cakes were enjoyed by everyone in between matches, making it a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon
Well done to everyone who played in the President's Cup today, a lovely afternoon and masses of cake! Same again next year!

Christmas Meal for Members
Members from the club came together to celebrate the festive season with a Christmas meal, at The Three Tuns in Bishop's Castle.
A great festive time was had by all!
Winner's of the Mixed Doubles 2022
Congratulations go to Roger Oakes and Sally Diplock for winning the Club's Mixed Doubles final this year narrowly beating Luke Williams and Lesley Davis Inglis in what was a thrilling close match with almost 3 hours of great rallies and wonderful play especially given the horrible conditions at the beginning. Well done everyone!
Tennis Club AGM on Tuesday 22nd November 2022
This year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) for club members was held in Bishop’s Castle Town Hall, followed by a ‘Cheese & Wine’ Social. This was a great opportunity to meet other members and catch up on how our club is progressing.
BCTC Tennis finals day 25 Sept 2022
A sunny day at the end of September saw this year's club finals day after a knock out competition that ran through the summer.
The day kicked off with the Men's Singles final, contested by Josh Blythe and Roger Oakes. In a gripping first set, Josh took the first set on a tie-break, by seven points to five. The momentum then shifted firmly Roger's way and he levelled the match without losing a game in the second set. In the deciding set, the momentum seemed to have shifted back to Josh, as broke serve in the first game and held his own serve, to take a two nil lead. But this was to be the last game Josh won and Roger took the next six games, to win the set and the match; 7 - 6, 0 - 6, 2 - 6.
Next up was the Men's Doubles final, Josh Blythe and Roger Oakes changed from opponents to teammates, as they took on Terry Cooper and David Hedge. In a high quality match, the crowd of spectators was duly entertained by some fine stroke-play and thrilling rallies. But with perhaps the earlier exertions in the Singles final taking its toll on Josh and Roger, it was David and Terry who prevailed, winning in straight sets; 3 - 6, 2 - 6.
In the Women's Doubles final, Sylvia Manson and Pam Sherwood took on Lesley Davis Inglis and Chris Fall. It was a closely fought contest with Lesley and Chris coming out winners.
A great day was had by all players and supporters!
