Mens and Ladies Team results

The team captains had to keep a close eye on the weather this week and make decisions around playing matches. The men played on Tuesday evening after a day of showers, often heavy. But by 5pm the grass courts were dry and  suitable for play, thanks to the skills of our groundsman from Cromer LTC.

The Reepham A team arrived in good time but seemed unhappy with the decision to play on grass. Everyone duly knocked up and despite some low bounces they were safe enough for play. Anton and Colin took on the Reepham first strand and quickly went behind. A persistent approach eventually secured them 5 games from the 16 on offer, losing 5-11. Meantime Jason and Robbie stormed ahead to a 13-3 lead, giving the home team an 18-14 advantage after the first matches.

The second matches saw Colin and Anton pulll back from initially falling behind, to win 9-7. Once again the pairing of Jason and Robbie pushed through to a 13-3 win giving the home team an overall win 40-26. Reepham seemed unhapppy to play on grass, but having reviewed their results, their only other loss was to Cromer - also on grass!

The Ladies then took on Acle B away on Thursday. Again the rain threatened, but both pairs managed to finish matches before the weather deteriorated. First strings Ros and Sandra Atkins took on the Acle second pair Beverley Dye and Louise Atherton-Howlett and with a number of deuce games they eventually came out winning 9-7 . Meantime Dawn and Sandra O'Neill took on Sabine Darter and Corrin Tulk who were a tricky pair to beat. Dawn and Sandra lost 3-13.

In the second half of the match, it was an uphill battle with Dawn and Sandra O'Neill. Winning 11-5 but with two games to go in the other match, Blofield had to win both to draw. Despite losing 7-9. The overall match was lost 30-34.

The next Mens match is Cromer away on Monday.
