Yesterday saw the return of the Men's and Ladies Singles Club Championships after an absence of 27 years.
Nine men and two ladies competed. The ladies played the best of three short sets and the men were split into two boxes and played a tie break (first to 10 ponts) against eveyone else in their box, followed by a final between the top two players.
The ladies result ended in a win for Diana Gilder against Karen Isbill 4-2, 4-1.
The Mens final was contested by Robbie Clarke and Anton Stryzhenko. The final result was a 10-5 win for Anton.
The men were then picked out of the hat by spectators for a knockout doubles draw. As luck has it Robbie and Anton were drawn together, taking on Mark Risley and Tom Hall in the final, winning 10-4.
A lot of fun and some excellent tennis was followed by the usual tea and cake. Many Thanks to Dawn for organising and running the tournament so well.
