Last night saw the Mens team start its 2024 City League campaign in Division 4 after gaining promotion last year.

The first match against Taverham B was a tight one with. The first 16 games providing opposite results with the pairings of Jason Eves and Robbie Clarke winning 11-5,  Colin Stocker and Anton Stryzhenko losing 5-11.

The second half of the match saw Colin and Anton recover from 1-7 down to lose 7-9. This meant the final result rested on Jason and Robbie's last two games. In a very tight last game the Taverham pair secured the last final point of the match with Jason and Robbie winning 9-7.

A very close match with the final result a draw. Moving up to Div 4 is going to be challenging this year, but it is early days and this solid start gives a good foundation to build upon. The grass courts played very well and the opposition were complimentary of the surface.

Next Friday 17 May sees the team play Cringleford D away. Cringleford were relagated from Div 3 last year so will be another tough challenge for Blofield.
