Welfare Officers are responsible for working with the club committee, coaches, volunteers and other staff to create a safe and inclusive venue for everyone. Welfare Officers are the point of contact for any concerns raised within their club. 
Having a Welfare Officer is a requirement for all tennis venues that wish to register to British Tennis.  

Why is a Welfare Officer important?  When someone has a concern, it is incredibly important that people know who the Welfare Officer is and how they can contact them.  Recent cases in tennis have highlighted that this is not always the case and this can lead to issues going unreported and unchallenged, which can exacerbate the situation. 
 
In the event of a concern being raised within the club, the Welfare Officer works closely with the LTA Safeguarding Team and other statutory bodies to manage the situation.
