Cuxton Recreation Ground Courts is a self-service facility and does not have a full time attendant.

Cuxton Parish Council will ensure however, that any staff or volunteers that do visit the facility for maintenance, troubleshooting or coaching will observe our Safeguarding Policy and hold current DBS checks where necessary.

 

Cuxton Parish Council Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy

Cuxton Parish Council is committed to ensuring that children, young people and vulnerable adults are protected and kept safe from harm whilst they are engaged in any activity associated with the Council and to establishing the following principles:

  1. Anyone under the age of 18 years is considered to be a child;
  2. A vulnerable adult is defined as unable to protect themselves from significant harm or exploitation;
  3. The welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults is paramount;
  4. All children, young people and vulnerable adults, without exception, have the right to protection from abuse and for their rights, feelings and views to be respected;
  5. All suspicions and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately;

In line with these principles the Council will:

  1. Create a safe and healthy environment for all activities, where children, young people and vulnerable adults feel safe and secure;
  2. Promote the general welfare, health and full development of children, young people and vulnerable adults during activities;
  3. Promote and implement appropriate procedures to safeguard the well-being of children, young people and vulnerable adults, and protect them from abuse;
  4. Respect the rights, wishes and feelings of children, young people and vulnerable adults and ensure they are listened to;
  5. Ensure that any allegations made by a child, young people and vulnerable adults are not allowed to go unchallenged and that any allegation or suspicion is promptly investigated, recorded and acted on;
  6. Ensure that councillors, staff and volunteers are well informed, supported and enabled to provide the best possible practice;
  7. Ensure that all new employees and volunteers who work with, or come in to contact with unaccompanied children, young people and vulnerable adults in the course of their work activities, will participate in a Disclosure and Barring Check.
  8. Ensure that all new employees and volunteers are provided with a copy of the Safeguarding and Child protection policy and asked to sign to confirm that they understand it and will abide by it.
  9. The Parish Council will appoint a Safeguarding and Child Protection Officer who will ensure that procedures are put in place to enable the aims of the Parish Council to be met and initiate appropriate action should any allegations of improper conduct be made.

 

The Council’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Officer is The Clerk to the Council.
