Mens Team - Match Report

On unexpectedly sunny but nonetheless rather squally (tricky) playing conditions, the men's team took on The Green at home on Sunday 1st March.

With a 6 point margin between us and 4th placed The Weald, we were never going to make up the points margin on Sunday.  Nonetheless we were hopeful of some sort of result and the match ended with a credible draw.  With better preparation in the form of match practice (which has been significantly hindered by the weather in recent weeks), a win might have been achievable.

Luke and Josh continue to forge a strong partnership and winning streak with two wins.  The first was via a Championship Tiebreak won 10-5, the second a comfortable 6-3, 6-1 victory against the opposition "first" pair.

James and David did less well and suffered a flatering start to both rubbers which proved hard to come back from.  They lost their first game 4-6, 1-6 and their second 1-6, 1-6.  Both felt that a victory in the second game could have been the more likely, with many deuce games and the opposition's style of play being better matched.

Thus concludes the Winter Season for the men's team - great work to all players in involved.  With it brings optimism for progress up the league during the forthcoming Summer Season.
