On a beautiful bright spring day last Sunday,  the ladies first team claimed an honourable draw against Meads second team.

In the first rubber, Gill and Jo had a battle royal with the Meads' second pair, fighting back in the first set to take it 7-5 - and in a similarly hard-fought second set, they took the match 6-4. Jane and Sarah also had a well contested match, against Meads' first pair, which went to a tie-break in the second set, narrowly losing out 7-5, 7-6.

Sadly, just before the second rubber started one of the Meads' ladies had to default, leaving Jane and Sarah to claim the rubber. Gill and Jo went toe-to-toe with the Meads' first pair, narrowly losing the first set 7-5 and then fell away a little in the second set, when Jo picked up a strain in her thigh muscle successfully going for a deep backhand return, to lose the match 6-1.
