Last Sunday, the ladies first team travelled to East Grinstead for their second Sussex League match of the Summer season and returned with another 4-0 victory.
The sun shone brightly in the first rubbers, as Gill Luis-Ravelo and Jo Chopping always had the edge in a competitive match against East Grinstead’s second pair, emerging victorious 6-4, 6-3. Ros Parker and Sarah Keegan played well to defeat the opposition’s first pair in a swift 6-1, 6-1 victory.
As the sky clouded over for the reverse rubbers, Gill and Jo quickly got into their stride to beat East Grinstead’s first pair by the same 6-1, 6-1 scoreline; whilst Ros and Sarah played well again with an identical 6-1, 6-1 victory. Interestingly, after the match, East Grinstead’s second pair said they ran out of steam in their second rubber, having been run ragged and given their all in the first rubber.
This second 4-0 victory sees East Hoathly take an early lead in division 8E with another four matches to follow.
